Fellowships
There are excellent fellowship opportunities for students accepted to the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate programme SELECT+. About six fellowships, divided between Program Country and Partner Country candidates, will be given to the highest ranked PhD candidates during the study period which lasts four years.
The fellowship, given in the form of an employment contract with your employing university, includes:
- Fixed contribution (to the Partner Country candidates only), to travel installation and other related costs at a total amount of €7500 for the whole duration of the program, payable subject to local regulations of the employing university
- Living allowance of minimum €1400/month (the first 36 months covered by The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), the final 12 months covered by the consortium). This is applicable for both Program and Partner Country candidates
Partner Country fellowships can be awarded to applicants from non-EU member states that have not resided in an EU member state or in Norway, Liechtenstein, Turkey, former Yugoslov Republic of Macedona, Switzerland or Iceland for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years (by 28 February of the intake year). The only exception to this rule applies to third-country doctoral candidates who have previously received an Erasmus Mundus masters scholarship in order to follow an EMMC. Note that candidates from the Western Balkan countries (i.e. Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia) belong to Partner Country at present (this might, however, change soon if these countries sign an agreement).
Program Country fellowhsips can be awarded to all applicants that are not eligible for a Partner Country fellowship. This means applicants from EU-member states, applicants from Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland, and applicants from non-EU member states that have lived in an EU or EES member state for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years (by 28 February of the intake year). Please note that exception to this rule applies to third-country doctoral candidates who have previously received an Erasmus Mundus masters scholarship in order to follow an EMMC.
Students fulfilling the eligibility criteria for both Program and Partner Country - e.g. students with a double nationality - must select the Category of their choice in the application form. As a result, they are entitled to apply only to one of the two categories of fellowship at a time.
