Mobility Scheme

This chart shows the mobility scheme for all “Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral Degree seeking students”. The students follow the course work “independent of geographical location”, and the training period is such that they spend at least 20 months outside the “home university” (with a minimum of 2 stays of minimum 4 months each, one of which will, for most students, be in industry). The research project is coupled to at least two academic and one industrial partner.

 

 

 

One example of such a mobility scheme can be a research topic like “Gas turbine/Fuel cell integrated polygeneration” with:

1. the “Innovation Camp” at TU/e in the Netherlands 4 weeks as a kick-off to the doctoral programme;
2. the first two years(years 1 and 2) of the programme having a significant placement (8+ months) at the home university KTH, Sweden, alternated with significant placement with the second university PoliTo, Italy, (8+ months) and introductory placement and collaboration with industrial partners Compower and Gett (4+ months);
3. the last two years (years 3 and 4) having a significant placement with the home university KTH (8+ months), alternated with shorter placements with the secondary university PoliTo and industry (4+ months each in total, although divided in short placements less than 90 days); while
4. continuously being in contact with the research colleagues through the "Virtual Incubator" platform by using “Bilda” communication tool.

Each particular PhD topic will form workpackages under the Project of the Intake, and the topic of the work packages will in turn be closely linked to the particular research area of the home university chosen. Then, the each student's mobility scheme will be established during the 4 week introductory “Incubator Camp”, together with a defined study plan for the 4 year programme. Thus, there is an opportunity for each student to influence the content of their research topic.
